Fashion Classes & Parties for Kids & Teens
Fashion First Workshops is a Fashion program designed for kids and teens interested in fashion. We teach kids how to sew using a sewing machine in Westfield, Madison, and Netherwood Hts, Plainfield, New Jersey.
We teach students grades 1-12, they learn the fundamentals of sewing to help explore their creativity. Our instructors nurture and help build self esteem. Our program starts right after school in the classroom on most days. On other days we are located in Recreation Centers as well as other locations. On Saturdays we offer sessions in at our Home Studio in the Netherwood Heights Historic District of Plainfield, NJ. We are always busy with planning Fashion Summer Camps, NYC fashion field trips, Girl Scout Events & Service Projects & Fashion Birthday Parties.
Our students [Fashion Designers] start with the sketch (croquis), technical details, choose and render the fabric, learn the proper way to make a pattern, including measuring each other, understanding the importance of this process the FIT of the garment. They learn how to pin and sew using a sewing machine the entire garment including the final fitting. Finally on the last day of our class we hold our Fashion Show.
With Project Runway Junior (the Lifetime show) becoming so popular we have more and more students wanting these challenges. We take them through the process of how to go about becoming a Fashion Designer and they sign up for our various programs at their level.
