Urban Fashion Week at Westfield Recreation

Urban fashion is a mix of casual and hip, and what is more trendy than a colorful jumpsuit? Perfect for on-the-go walks around the city or down-town areas! Urban fashion combines influences of architecture and street style, and we will explore that in fabrics and designs! Each designer will choose their own fabric and the length of their jumpsuit.

This summer camp is for students going into grades 3rd-11th (Ages 8-16).

No sewing experience needed!

Includes all fabric, supplies, and use of sewing machines.
Limit 6 minimum- 9 maximum

Description
Design and create a jumpsuit with the choice of making it shorts, capris, or pants. Designers will explore urban and city patterns and designs. Our designers will choose from an array of fun patterns suitable for this occasion. Our accessory of the week will be creating a stylish fabric bubble necklace or bracelet with matching or coordinating fabrics.

About Our Summer Fashion Camps

Our students [Fashion Designers] start with the sketch (croquis), technical details, choosing and rendering the fabric, learning the proper way to make a pattern, including measuring each other, understanding the importance of this process and the fit of the garment. They learn how to pin and sew using a sewing machine. Then, they sew the entire garment including the final fitting. Finally, on the last day of our camp, we hold our Fashion Show. During our fashion summer camp weeks, we add fashion challenges (i.e. Newspaper challenges, trash bag challenges), for our designers to explore their innermost fashion taste and skills. Our designers team up with other designers for this quite unique and fun experience. No sewing experience necessary. All fabric, supplies, and use of the sewing machines are included.

Social distancing and CDC checklists will be followed throughout the week to keep us all safe. Face masks are mandatory. Supplies will be passed out and used solely by the individual designer.
