Indie Folk Week at Westfield Recreation

We all need a dress that’s perfect for dancing through a field of flowers to our favorite Taylor Swift song. During this fashion summer camp, we will be designing and creating the perfect indie folk dress. A dress that is light and airy (perfect for floating on the clouds of your dreams). This dress can be worn several different ways, and even looks stylish with a long sleeve shirt underneath during the cooler months!

This summer camp is for students going into grades 3rd-11th (Ages 8-16).

No sewing experience needed!

Fee: $270

Includes all fabric, supplies, and use of sewing machines.
Limit 6 minimum- 9 maximum

Description
Design and create a flowy apron-style dress. Designers will explore indie folk-inspired patterns and designs. Our designers will choose from an array of fun patterns suitable for this occasion. Our accessory of the week is creating a flower crown.

About Our Summer Fashion Camps

Our students [Fashion Designers] start with the sketch (croquis), technical details, choosing and rendering the fabric, learning the proper way to make a pattern, including measuring each other, understanding the importance of this process and the fit of the garment. They learn how to pin and sew using a sewing machine. Then, they sew the entire garment including the final fitting. Finally, on the last day of our camp, we hold our Fashion Show. During our fashion summer camp weeks, we add fashion challenges (i.e. Newspaper challenges, trash bag challenges), for our designers to explore their innermost fashion taste and skills. Our designers team up with other designers for this quite unique and fun experience. No sewing experience necessary. All fabric, supplies, and use of the sewing machines are included.

Social distancing and CDC checklists will be followed throughout the week to keep us all safe. Face masks are mandatory. Supplies will be passed out and used solely by the individual designer.
