Hawaiian Fashion Week With Springfield Recreation

Break out the hula skirts and put on your flower leis, it’s time for a Hawaiian fashion week! The tiki torches have spoken, we are bringing back our popular Hawaiian themed fashion camp because our designers can’t get enough! In this camp, designers will create a top or dress using Hawaiian prints and our final day of class will be a luau fashion show!

-1:00 pm-4:00 pm (With optional supervised lunch break 12:30-1)

This summer camp is for students going into grades 3rd-8th (Ages 8-13).

No sewing experience needed!

Fee: $265

Includes all fabric, supplies, and use of sewing machines.
Limit 6 minimum- 10 maximum

Description
Design and create a Hawaiian top or dress. Designers will explore Hawaiian patterns and designs. Our designers will choose from an array of fun patterns suitable for this occasion. Our accessory of the week is creating a Lei or a grass skirt!

About Our Summer Fashion Camps

Our students [Fashion Designers] start with the sketch (croquis), technical details, choosing and rendering the fabric, learning the proper way to make a pattern, including measuring each other, understanding the importance of this process and the fit of the garment. They learn how to pin and sew using a sewing machine. Then, they sew the entire garment including the final fitting. Finally, on the last day of our camp, we hold our Fashion Show. During our fashion summer camp weeks, we add fashion challenges (i.e. Newspaper challenges, trash bag challenges), for our designers to explore their innermost fashion taste and skills. Our designers team up with other designers for this quite unique and fun experience. No sewing experience necessary. All fabric, supplies, and use of the sewing machines are included.

Social distancing and CDC checklists will be followed throughout the week to keep us all safe. Face masks and hand washing are mandatory. Supplies will be passed out and used solely by the individual designer.
